ETHIOPIA YIRGACHEFFE 1 ORGANIC DESTA GOLA
Grower: Desta Gola owns and operates a four-hectare farm with a little over 20,000 trees that have been in production since 2013.
Lot: While this particular lot is sold through the centralized ECX auction system it is fully traceable through a partnership established by Royal Coffee and the YCFCU (Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union) created to highlight single farmer lot's like Desta Gola's. Traditionally speaking coffee produced in Ethiopia is grown in kitchen gardens. This type of agricultural ecosystem is where food for each family is grown alongside a few cash crops, like coffee. Large estates still exist but are not the norm in Ethiopia. Due to these factors, Ethiopia is the worlds only coffee producing country whose volume of consumption equals its export.
